Twitter is working on providing users with more control over who tweets are shared with and who can mention you in a post, more details below.
Sharing posts
Users will be able share their tweets with selected audiences, as opposed to all of their followers. Twitter is working on providing a sub group of ‘Trusted Friends’, as well as ‘Facets’ for users to categorise tweets when sending them.
A look at how these features would work:
Mentions
In terms of choosing who mentions you in a post, users will be able to select “Unmention yourself from this conversation”. This option removes your @handle and would then be unlinked from further chat, however it would still remain, although unclickable, in the original tweet.
