Following on with our Leaderboard series, in this article, we’ll take a look at the top performing Instagram pages in our Locowise Brand Leaderboard for the Asia Pacific Region.
2018 is about brands keeping their Instagram game strong, so we thought it would be a good start to discover who currently are ranked in the Top 10 by ‘Audience Size’. Our Locowise Brand Leaderboard also gives you the option to rank by Brand Score (using our own proprietary scoring system) and Engagement.
As we wanted to find out which Instagram pages in the region are really pulling in those followers, we also dived into the types of content the top 3 pages are posting. Reflecting on the last 30 days and ranked by ‘Total Engagement’ we used the Content Drilldown segment of our tool to really give us an insight, from a content perspective, on how these pages are nailing it.
For the top 10 Instagram pages in APAC, it’s interesting to note that aside from the Instagram brand itself – all pages belong to entertainment artists or perhaps what we now see as influencers.
The majority featured on the list are glamorous Bollywood film actors and actresses who have obviously connected with many followers ranging from a whooping 14 – 21 million! Two pages that did make the top 10, @princessayahrini & @raisa6690 actually belong to Indonesian celebrities, however, it still shows that personalities instead of brands are making waves within the Instagram scene.
It’s no surprise that Instagram themselves have hit the top spot. Exploring and sharing selected stories from around the world is getting followers interested.
Not only do Instagram feature the image and story on their page but they also mention the page that has provided the daily snap. The collaboration drives traffic to each page naturally increasing the audience size.
Over the last 30 days, the top performing post for Instagram was an insanely cute shot of Cricket, the ‘sassy shiba’. The post received over 2 million engagements overall with a predicted reach of 366,066,940 – incredible!
Deepika Padukone is currently the highest paid actress in India, now this would certainly warrant a huge Instagram following! A combination of editorial and everyday posts, the page has brought together a strong community of 21.2 million followers.
This post resonates with many as Deepika gives thanks to all those who have wished her a ‘Happy Birthday’. The post generated an epic engagement of 915,718 of which 8,618 were comments.
We now feature another Bollywood Beauty as one of the top ranking Instagram pages in APAC. Priyanka Chopra is a former Miss World pageant winner turned actress and with content sharing snippets of her daily (and very glamorous!) life, the actress has attracted 21 million followers.
A simple selfie of the starlet having her hair done gathered the most engagement in the last 30 days. Capturing a very mundane moment triggered an engagement of 1,193,042 of which 6,937 were comments from her fans. The use of hashtags in Priyanka’s post would have added value to her post-performance helping to reach a predicted amount of 20,929,514 people.
Though commercial brands have yet to make an appearance on the Leaderboard ranks for APAC, with the right social media strategy and content campaign, we can start to see brands having the same impact celebrity influencers have when it come to the Instagram community.
The more transparent the post, the more it resonates with the audience, meaning a higher engagement rate. This is just one of the main areas as to why brands will be focusing on their Instagram Business Page this year.
