Apple iOS15 is on its way

The latest update further bites into Facebook’s space

The Apple iOS15 update is coming in the autumn. Developments have been made to a number of areas, including FaceTime and iMessage, and will work with an iPhone 6s and newer. Some of the big updates are:

FaceTime

• iPhone users will be able to have FaceTime video calls with Android and Windows users
• SharePlay will enable users to call and watch a streaming movie, listen to music, or share screens
• Voice Isolation to cancel out background noise
• Spatial Audio, providing a 3D effect to give the impression users are in the same room

Messages 

• Sharing content will also be made easier on iMessage. This includes web links, Apple Music tracks and Apple News articles 

Notifications

• A Notifications Summary will replace the Notification Centre
• Your contacts will be able to see if you have Do Not Disturb turned on

Safari 

• The address bar is moving to the bottom of the screen
• A new customisable home screen 

Live Text 

• Take a photo of a text to add it to a document 

Photos

• These will now be included in Spotlight suggestions to aid with searches 

With Facebook still reeling from the iOS14 update, this latest news is sure to cause even more of a divide between the two.
