Twitter has announced Fleets will no longer be available from August 3rd. The decision is due to a lack of new people joining the conversation with Fleets.
When Fleets launched in November 2017 they were designed to offer “a lower pressure way for people to talk about what’s happening.” Twitter has reassured users that they will be launching new ways for people to join the conversation and talk about what’s happening in their world, but offered little insight into what this will look like.
On the decision to remove Fleets, Twitter said: “We had planned for Fleets to help people feel comfortable joining the conversation in a low-pressure way, but it turns out Fleets were mainly used by those Tweeting the most. So now we’re ready to explore other ways for people to share on Twitter. “
